Houses
A chart divides the local sky into twelve houses, each governing a department of life — money, communication, home, partnership, career, and so on. The four angles anchor the system: the Ascendant begins the first house, the IC the fourth, the Descendant the seventh, the MC the tenth.
House placement is one of the inputs a careful reading checks: a planet's natal house colors what its lines are about for you specifically, which is part of why the same line reads differently for different people.
